They played Rikers Island inmates who flanked Dominique Strauss-Kahn (a mute Taran Killam), then subverted expectations by knowing just about everything there is to know about European economics. That one original sketch was risky, ceding the cold open duties to the inspired pairing of Kenan Thompson and Jay Pharoah. The premise may not have been particularly clever, maybe even racist, but I loved Pharoah and Thompson in this sketch. The show wasnt taking any chances, with all but one sketch having been mounted before. Too bad they chose to end on a prison rape joke.

I like the cold much more open to many people, and consider it a highlight. Take a look. Mines in the death of Osama bin Laden for more than a few laughs, the scene shows Barack Obama cut loose in the CNN "The Situation Room" after the catch. Openly smoke in the air, surrounded by ridiculously exaggerated "patriotic" performers.
