For a movie that skewers organized religion, Bill Maher’s “Religulous” is, well, a little preachy. And Maher is fine with that. The documentary, director Larry Charles’ follow-up to 2006’s smash “Borat,” follows the irascible comedian on an anti-spiritual journey from Jerusalem to a Jesus theme park in Florida. It’s due Oct. 3 from Lionsgate and Maher returns to TV on Aug. 29 for an election-themed cycle of his Emmy-nominated HBO talk show, “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

HBO Wants More ‘Sex’ & Some Big Screen Bada Bing: Still longing for more time with Carrie and the girls? Maybe a little trip across the bridge and through the tunnel for quality time with Tony and the guys? If so, your TV-to-big screen wish just might come true, according to HBO execs, TV Squad reports. While schmoozing reporters at the annual TCA Press Tour, top HBO execs said they want to do another “Sex and The City” movie and a “Sopranos” big screen treatment. “Everyone associated with ['Sex and The City'] was really heartened by the fans and by the new fans to the show,” HBO’s Richard Plepler told reporters. And as for Tony Soprano getting his movie debut? “If David [Chase] wants to do it, we’d be delighted to explore that,” HBO Co-president, Michael Lombardo added. Consider us there!
