Attorney’s spokesman denies correspondence
11:44 a.m. Todd Black, spokesman for attorney Jose Baez, said that Casey Anthony has not been corresponding with California death row inmate Scott Peterson.

Baez screens his client’s mail and would know if such correspondence had taken place. Black declined to say who is writing to Anthony.

10:15 am. California death-row inmate Scott Peterson has been writing letters to Casey Anthony in the Orange County Jail, sources told the Orlando Sentinel.

Peterson was convicted three years ago of killing his wife Laci, and unborn son, Conner. Laci Peterson, who was eight months pregnant at the time, was reported missing in December 2002 from their Modesto, Calif. home. The bodies of Laci and the unborn child washed ashore in April 2003 in the San Francisco Bay. Peterson was charged in their deaths after the bodies were found.

Peterson was sentenced to death in 2005 and is being held at San Quentin State Prison. Peterson has maintained his innocence.

The content of the letters was not clear, and it’s unknown whether Anthony has responded to him. There is no known connection between Peterson and Anthony, other than the similarities in their cases.

Orange County Jail spokesman Allen Moore said inmate correspondence is not public record. A spokeswoman at San Quentin said inmate letters were not part of California public record laws.

Anthony is accused of killing her daughter Caylee Marie Anthony and was charged with first-degree murder earlier this month. The child’s body has not been found.

More to come.
