Volunteer search crews tried again Tuesday morning, to find any sign of Caylee Anthony. Monday’s search was the first since investigators admitted publicly to Eyewitness News that they believe she is dead. Their belief is based on forensic evidence suggesting decomposition from Caylee’s body was in Casey Anthony’s car.
More than 100 people signed up and were split into teams to search areas where sheriff’s investigators believe the body could be. The search was organized by a Texas group called EquuSearch.
Casey Anthony reported Caylee missing in June. She is in jail on charges related to her daughter’s disappearance and on check fraud charges.
“It’s going to take days, literally days,” said Commander Matt Irwin of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Monday’s search brought out about half the volunteers of a similar search Sunday. Detectives said the volunteers found nothing more than animal bones. If they do find something suspicious, deputies will come in and finish looking.
“I’ve never been a homicide investigator, but obviously we need more than what we have at this point,” Irwin said.PROTESTS CONTINUE OUTSIDE ANTHONY HOME
Protesters were again outside the Anthony’s home Monday morning and, although the family taped off their lawn and posted no trespassing signs, that did not keep them away. One protester knocked on the door and Cindy Anthony, Casey’s mother, threatened to call 911. According to the protesters, though, it was a peaceful gathering.
Some residents in Central Florida said they believe Casey’s parents have information in the case of missing Caylee Anthony and hoped the rally would pressure them to talk. Tempers flew at a vigil in front of the Anthony home Sunday night where over 50 people prayed for Caylee to come home.
The same day 200 volunteers searched south east Orlando for the little girl, the lead investigator told Eyewitness News that they were looking for the body of little Caylee Anthony.
INVESTIGATORS CONFIRM CAYLEE IS DEAD
“We clearly have evidence that indicates there was a dead body in the trunk of Casey’s car and that that body was Caylee’s,” Sgt. John Allen told Eyewitness News.
Eyewitness News had previously reported that FBI DNA tests confirmed that Caylee’s body had been in the trunk and hair and fluid analysis indicated the body was decomposing.
